Redskins fans would probably take mediocre — the word the team’s former owner’s son used to describe the state of the franchise. That would be an improvement.

John Kent Cooke, whose father Jack sold the Redskins to Daniel Snyder in 1999, was disappointed to see what the franchise has become since his family let go control.

“I think that what’s happened over the 20-year period is that he has taken a franchise that has been universally respected in sports, not just the NFL, and proceeded to drag it down to mediocrity,” he told the Washington Post in a feature about Snyder’s reign. “It’s no longer one of the premier sports franchises in the United States.”

Since Snyder bought the Redskins, they are 139-180-1. They have reached the playoffs just five times and have two postseason wins. When reached for a comment by the Washington Post, Snyder’s spokesman offered an interview, but only on the basis it would replace the story.

“Unlike Snyder, I return phone calls,” Cooke said.

In May of 1999, Snyder bought the Redskins and Jack Kent Cooke Stadium, which is now known as FedExField, for $800 million.

It’s the name. First off, it was Cooke who ruined the team. If I’m not mistaken, Cooke left the team for his make a wish foundation and it was auctioned off to Snyder for 900 mil. Should’ve left it to his kids. Deadskins. First football game I ever went to was in 1993 vs the jets at RFK. Final score was 3-0 lol. Should’ve learned my lesson then

3-0! That's a great game. Wish those games still surfaced several times a year. Love when Defense dominates.

Snyder is only 54 years old, seems like a healthy guy. He is never selling the team so get ready for at least another 25 years of mediocrity.

Seeing ownership of that team crumble is just fine with me....Their refusal to change their name proves their true character. Absolute disgrace to have that team name.....Utes, Seminoles, Sioux...Totally fine. But to use a name that was specifically described to murder and hang the scalps of the real true Americans of this country is disgusting. Hope the organization crumbles to the ground.

He may very well be the worst owner in professional sports.

And then you realize his whole background story is fake. You research all their backgrounds for the truth and you realize what they post in wikipedia, the media, magazines about Dan Snyder's rise to buy the team..... all just a BS story.
